1948 -
In the story, 1984, the book and today are parallel. In the story the characters are growing with their government, like us. For example, we and the book come together to make our community stronger and better. In the book on page 47 it says, "Anyone under forty-five is perfectly capable of touching his toes. We don’t all have the privilege of fighting in the front line, but at least we can all keep fit." This means that everyone is comming together to fight for them selves so they can be fit together. We also belive that we must work together so we can all become strong together but we need everyone to contribute. Also in the story on page 63 it states, " At any given moment there was some necessary article which the Party shops were unable to supply." In the story this means that they need to have enough sources since they are scarce during this time in the story. We also have struggles for sources like plastic and oil.

1984 -
Throughout the story, 1984, the author uses many literaty elements and devicced. For, Example he used a similie that explained how the voice sounded like a dulled mirror. In the text it says, "The voice came from an oblong metal plaque like a dulled mirror which formed part of the surface of the right-hand wall." (pg.4) This is used so we can imagine how the voice sounded like and know there tone. Another literary element or device that he used was personification. In the story the author says, "Partly it was a sort of hymn to the wisdom and majesty of Big Brother, but still more it was an act of self-hypnosis, a deliberate drowning of consciousness by means of rhythmic noise." (pg. 21) When he says, "a deliberate drowning of consciousness by means of rhythmic noise." He used a personification because the music was making Winston drowning of consciousness and only living things can drown. The author used personification to show us how the music effected Winston how he felt.

So far, In the story the main charcters are Winston Smith, Emmanuel Goldstien, and Big Brother. Winston Smith is the protagonist in the story, he is a calm thirty-nine year old man living in Oceana. Oceans government is poorly governed and is very involved. Emmanuel Goldstien is the leader of, Brotherhood. He is also rivals with Bigbrother, Bigbrother is the symbolic leader of Oceana and is God-like to the people. Winston is a dynamic charcater in the story so far. He is very obedient member to the party but changes. Winston disagreed with Big Brother but doesn't do anything about it. For example, "Whether he wrote DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER, or whether he refrained from writing it, made no difference"(pg. 24) This quote means that even though Winston disagreed he didn't do anything about it and he thought it wasn't going to change anything either way. Then, he disobeyed and tried to avoid the goverment by buying a diary which is a crime in Oceana. "The thing that he was about to do was to open a diary. This was not illegal (nothing was illegal, since there were no longer any laws), but if detected it was reasonably certain that it would be punished by death, or at least by twentyfive years in a forced-labour camp." (pg. 9) This means that even though he new the consequences he still wrote in the diary forbidding the government.

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland -
An important scene in Alice In Wonderland is when Alice followed the rabbit down the rabbit-hole slowly falling to Wonderland. This happened when she was listening to her sister reading the book and she saw the rabbit running saying he will be late. This scene is important because Alice reaches Wonderland and the whole story officially begins because it mainly takes place in wonderland. All the complications and conflicts in the story mostly take place in wonderland. When she is falling down the hole it shows her main characteristics, that she is curious, knowledgeable, and persistent. For example she is curious because she said, ""There are no mice in the air, I'm afraid, but you might catch a bat, and that's very like a mouse, you know. But do cats eat bats, I wonder?" (pg. 6) After she thought of this she kept curiously thinking about it over and over. This scene does help create a universal theme because her falling in the rabbit-hole leads to Wonderland where the theme is explored. Alice acts like herself in this scene because before she was bored and tired, but when she was in the hole for a while she was thinking and thinking to herself about many things. She was also curious and adventurous because in the story it says, "Burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge." This quote shows she was very curious and adventurous because she followed the rabbit in the hole because of curiosity. Also, in the plot structure this scene takes place in rising action because Alice's Adventure is starting. I think Alice dream of this scene because it relates to her personality.

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland -
In the story the author, Lewis Carroll, presents the literary element, Imagery. Imagery is used during the story when he uses adjectives that create a representation of the noun and you can imagine it. It is used because it gives you a better understanding of the story and how the character feels and what is going on in the setting. An example of when Lewis Carroll uses Imagery is in page 53," She didn't have long to think, when a shower of little pebbles came rattling through the window." When the author uses adjectives in this sentence like, shower, little, rattling, and through where used it showed Imagery. For example, in the story when I read "shower of little pebbles" I saw it as a lot of pebbles falling like in a rain storm. Also when he said rattling it reminds me of a babies rattle how it makes a lot of little noises shaking, so I imagine the pebbles shaking and making noises as they fall through the window. Another Example of when Imagery is used is in page 105," The Dormouse slowly opened his eyes. " I wasn't asleep," he said in a hoarse, feeble voice." I imagine the Dormouse waking up slowly and drowsily. I can also Imagine his voice sounding rough, harsh, and weak. All in all, Imagery is a way of making the story more understandable by creating a way to imagine it so you can understand it more.

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland -
In the story Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, Alice met a mouse while she was swimming in her own pool of tears. She tried getting the mouse's attention but he ignored her so she thought he didn't speak english so she said "Ou est ma chatte?" Which means where is my cat? When she said that the cat leaped out of the water in fear and Alice remembered mice don't like cats. This shows the GATE icon multiple perspectives. From the perspective of the mouse he sees the cat with hatred for example he says, Our family always hated cats: nasty, low vulgar things!" In Alice's perspective she says, "She is such a dear quiet thing, - and she is such a soft thing to nurse," So, Alice sees her cat will love and ease. Another perspective of cats is when Alice was wishing her cat was with her and started talking about her to the birds and mouse. Alice also sees her cat with amusement because she said, "Dinah's our cat. And she's such a capital one for catching mice, you can't think! And oh, I wish you could see her after the birds! Why, she'll eat a little bird as soon as a look at it!" After she said this, it caused a sensation to all the birds and the mice so they were all frightened and left. Since the birds and mouse left it shows that in their perspective of cats with hatred and fright. So, after all there are three perspectives of cats from Alice, the mouse, and the birds. Alice sees her cat with love, the mouse sees them with hatred, and the birds see them with fear.

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland -
In the story, Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, Alice, the main character, saw a white pink eyed rabbit, the second main character, with a waistcoat pulling his watch out of his waistcoat pocket. Alice was sitting next to her sister with boredom when she heard the rabbit saying to himself, "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!"(pg. 2) The rabbit is a very hurried rabbit, rushing to be on time. And on the other hand, Alice is a very caring, curious girl that thinks a lot but is very knowledgeable. So, she followed the rabbit down a slow and long hole. While she was slowly falling down in the story it says, "There was nothing else to do, so Alice soon began talking again. "Dinah I'll miss you very much to-night, I should think" (Dinah was the cat.) "There are no mice in the air, I'm afraid, but you might catch a bat, and that's very like a mouse, you know. But do cats eat bats, I wonder?" (pg. 6) After this she kept thinking "Do cats eat bats?" all the way till the end of the abyss, showing Alice thinks a lot. This quote also shows she is very caring because she says she will miss her cat very much by wanting to be with her and thinking of what she would eat if she was with her. On her way down the hole she says to herself, "I wonder how many miles I've fallen this time? I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth. Let me see: that would be four thousand miles down, I think-" This shows she thinks a lot and is very knowledgeable. Alice is important in the story because without her boredom and curiosity no one but her would have noticed the rabbit followed him, and go down the rabbit hole to wonderland. The rabbit is important because without him rushing to wonderland saying, "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" Alice wouldn't have heard him and no one would probably have found the hole to wonderland. From what I have read, both the characters are static because Alice was still curiously and knowledgeably following the rabbit rushing through the tiny door to wonderland that she figured out how to enter after a while of thinking to herself who she thought she changed to.
